Short answers to what players ask most. Each points to the guide that goes further.
Where do I get the HUD?
From the sim you play on: usually a kiosk, or its staff send it. Players don't buy it themselves. Wearing the HUD
The HUD is blank, or says to click it.
Click it once to wake it. If it stays blank, type @relog on your command channel and give it a few seconds, or take it off and wear it again. Troubleshooting
Is my character the same on every sim?
No. Each sim runs its own Black Box, so your characters, items and money belong to that sim. Create a character
Can I have more than one character?
Yes, if your sim allows it. Make another and use Switch character to change between them. Your character sheet
How do I show I'm in character?
Press the roleplay button on Home, or type @ic, @ooc or @afk. It shows on your HUD and over your head. Play in character
Is what I write in roleplay stored?
No. If your sim rewards roleplay, each emote's length, a fingerprint of it, who was nearby and where you were are kept to work out experience. The words themselves are not. Events and rewards
Why is an ability greyed out?
You can't pay for it right now (Energy, Mana or HP), it's still cooling down, or it isn't your turn. The button says which. Your turn
Why can't I level up?
Level up from Home's notice when it shows, or type @profile checklevel to see if one is waiting. You can't level up during a fight, and every stat point has to be spent before Save works. Levels, perks and respecs
How do I sign in to my sim's website?
Press Settings, then Web Login on the HUD. It signs you in without a password. To sign in without the HUD, set a password in your account settings there; if it asks for a current password you never set, ask your sim's staff for a temporary one. Your sim's website
A guide mentions something my HUD doesn't have.
Each sim switches on the parts it wants, so your sim doesn't use that part. The guides say "if your sim uses it" wherever that applies.
Can I change the HUD's layout or size?
Yes: Settings, then Home layout or Display. You can also shrink it to a strip. Settings
Which languages does the HUD speak?
English and German. Pick one under Settings, then Language. Settings
Who do I ask for help?
Your sim's staff first, for anything about your sim. For the HUD itself, ask on the Black Box Discord.
