Your sim's website
How to sign in to your sim's Black Box website and what you'll find there.
For playersYour sim has a website that goes with the HUD. It uses the same account, so your characters, items and experience are all there. Your sim’s staff can rename its menu, so names may differ a little.
Sign in from the HUD
- Open the HUD and press Settings, then Web Login.
- Second Life asks whether to open the page. Open it.
- The website opens and you’re signed in. You don’t need a password.
You can also type @passreset on your command channel. Chat gives you a “HUD control panel” link that signs you in the same way.
Each link works once. If a link only shows the sign-in form, get a fresh one from Web Login.
Set a password
A password lets you sign in from any browser without the HUD.
- Sign in with Web Login.
- Click your name or picture at the top right and choose Settings.
- In the Password card, type your new password twice. It needs at least 8 characters.
- Press Set password (or Change password).
The card shows the username to sign in with. After that, the sign-in page takes your Username and Password.
If the card asks for a Current password you never set, ask your sim’s staff for a temporary password, then change it here.
What you’ll find
- Home: your active character, your experience this week, your other characters, your quests and purse, and the awards and reports you’ve filed.
- Your characters: each one has a character page. Under Details you can change its alt name, title, picture, info and roleplay preferences. To make a new character, click your name at the top right and choose Create character. You switch characters on the HUD, not here. See Create a character.
- Character sheets: everyone’s public sheets. If your sim uses written sheets, you fill in yours here and staff approve it.
- Events: what’s on now and coming up. Press I’m part of this when you take part, and leave feedback afterwards. See Events and rewards.
- Awards and Reports: file an award request or a report under Submit, and see them under View. Your sim’s staff review them.
- My Fight: the HUD’s fight menu on the website. It only acts while you’re wearing the HUD in-world.
- Depending on your sim, also a Bounty board, a Bank, an Item store and your Dice history, where you can check a roll by its ID.
Two-factor sign-in
Two-factor sign-in adds a second step when you sign in with your password. You need a password first.
- Go to Settings and find Two-factor sign-in.
- Choose Set up an authenticator app and scan the code with the app, or add a security key with Add a security key.
- Save the backup codes it shows you. You only see them once, and each one lets you in if you lose your app or key.
When you sign in with your password, the website then asks for a code. Tick Trust this browser for 30 days to skip that step on your own computer. The Web Login link from the HUD still signs you in without it.
Make it look your own
- The palette icon at the top, Look, picks a theme and Light, Dark or Match my device.
- In Settings, Make it yours lets you choose your own accent colour and background, if your sim allows it. Press Save my look. Only you see it.
Settings also holds your display name, roleplay mode and language.
